FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DOES YOUR APPROACH WORK?

Our approach is unique for each client according to her specific struggles, wants, needs and goals. It’s a lot like talk therapy, supplemented by detailed nutrition information guides, meal plans, journal prompts, personal growth exercises and regular accountability through weekly or bi-weekly sessions together. There is often the recommendation for comprehensive blood and gut microbiome testing, which allow us to be more precise and strategic in crafting a plan forward. In sessions, we unpack perceived obstacles, patterns and fears, as well as previous attempts (what hasn’t worked) and strategies for the future (what could work). There is always recommended reading and listening (podcasts) as they relate to the client’s personal experience.

WHAT IS YOUR STYLE AND PROCESS?

Our style is one-size-fits-one! Our process works because we meet each client where they are. Only then are we able to work with each client in the full context of his or her life. We focus on the areas that need the most attention, as well as those that will have the greatest impact. This is a dynamic process that will look different for everyone. Remarkably, that’s why it works!

WHAT DO YOU SPECIALIZE IN?

We specialize in mindfulness-based behavior change and holistic whole foods nutrition education. Cultivating experience-based wisdom, while simultaneously healing trauma, destructive patterns around food rules and restriction, anxiety, fear, self-judgment, and disease (phew!) our methods call upon one’s own ability to heal the mind through awareness of the body. Very simply, this can be best understood as a keen mind-body intelligence.

DO YOU OFFER CONDITION AND SYMPTOM-SPECIFIC PROTOCOLS?

Yes. We work with clients seeking sustainable weight loss solutions, as well as those seeking relief from symptoms of high blood pressure, acid reflux, adrenal fatigue, hypothyroidism, candida, hormone imbalance, lymes disease, gut dysbiosis, PCOS, SIBO, IBS, and more general patterns of disordered eating and B.E.D.

WHAT LEVEL OF COMMITMENT FROM ME IS REQUIRED?

As with most things in life, you will get out what you put in. In order for our time together to be worth it, you will have to work it. An open mind is required. We often tell our clients, “you have to feel it to heal it” and feelings can be uncomfortable. In addition to our sessions together, there will be assigned exercises, writing prompts and recommended reading.

HOW QUICKLY CAN I EXPECT TO SEE RESULTS AND CHANGE?

This work is deeply powerful. You can expect to see and feel change as soon as after our first session together. More than likely, this change will be in the form of mindset, motivation and general self-awareness. All of which are critical in the early stages of real long-lasting change.

WILL WORKING WITH YOU HELP ME LOSE WEIGHT?

Healthy and sustainable weight loss is almost always a naturally occurring byproduct of this work. If you are ready and committed to cultivating more mindful attention to your relationship with food and yourself, you will lose weight.

WILL YOU GIVE ME A MEAL PLAN?

Yes. We will provide you with a meal plan and suggested recipes.

WILL YOU RECOMMEND AND OR ASSIST WITH ANY NECESSARY ADDITIONAL TESTING?

Yes. Often times client symptoms suggest an imbalance in one are or another, at which point we strongly recommend additional testing. Examples of this are for things like thyroid TSH levels, iron, mercury etc. and can be done through a client primary care doctor or Urgent Care.

WHAT IF I CURRENTLY HAVE AN EATING DISORDER?

If you currently have a diagnosed eating disorder, our approach can help further support your growth in healing by working with and alongside your existing primary care doctor and therapist.
